What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a special type of  dentistry that deals with the correction of bad bites, or problems with the way your teeth are in right position and fit together. Orthodontic treatment will also improve the general appearance of the full face.

Orthodontist is a specially trained dentist who does Orthodontic treatment only.

According to most Associaations of Orthodontists, more than 70% of children should have Orthodontist treatment.

All dentists are taught to treat some minor orthodontic problems. If your child’s dentist thinks you should see a specialist for treatment, he or she will refer you to an orthodontist.

Orthodontics is a specialty area of dentistry that is officially known as Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. The purpose of orthodontics is to treat malocclusion through braces, corrective procedures, and other
“appliances” to straighten teeth and correct jaw alignment.

Who treats orthodontic problems? Is it important?

An orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Following a University education and a degree from a five – to six -year dental school, an orthodontic specialist must successfully complete an additional two to three years of advanced education in  orthodontic program.
